The Effect Of The Boarding School System On The Critical Thinking Skills Of Cadets In The Diploma 3 Air Traffic Control At The Surabaya Aviation Polytechnic

This study aims to determine the effect of the boarding school system on the critical thinking skills of
cadets in the Diploma 3 Air Traffic Control at the Surabaya Aviation Polytechnic and the factors that
influence their critical thinking. This research employed a quantitative method with a questionnaire based on a
Likert scale as the data collection tool. The research sample included the entire population of Diploma 3 Air Traffic
Control cadets (n=30). Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 29 with a t-test. The results indicated a
significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, which means that the boarding school system has a significant effect on cadets’
critical thinking skills. The main influencing factors are environmental discipline, dormitory social life, intensity of
teacher and supervisor guidance, additional extracurricular and academic activitie, and educational facilities. The
boarding school system has proven effective in developing analytical, evaluative, reflective, and independent thinking
patterns.
