CCTV UTILIZATION IN APRON MOVEMENT CONTROL AND AIRSIDE SAFETY COMPLIANCE: EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE FROM JUANDA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the extent to which the use of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) by the Apron Movement Control (AMC) unit influences personnel compliance with operational safety procedures in the airside area of Juanda International Airport in Surabaya. A quantitative approach was used, employing an associative research design. Data collection was conducted via a questionnaire distributed to 47 AMC officers; the data were then analyzed using SPSS through a series of tests, including validity and reliability tests, classical assumptions, simple linear regression, and hypothesis testing. The research findings indicate that the level of CCTV utilization is classified as high with an average score of 4.34 (on a scale of 1–5), while the level of compliance with operational safety procedures is also in the high category with an average of 4.31. The regression test results yielded a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), a regression coefficient of 0.824, and a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.777, indicating that 77.7% of the variation in compliance with operational safety procedures can be explained by CCTV utilization. Thus, it can be concluded that the more optimal the use of CCTV by the AMC unit, the higher the level of compliance with operational safety procedures on the airside.
